Why the gap persists

The visibility gap isn't a new problem and it isn't going unaddressed. So why does it persist? A few reasons:

Alert fatigue. Platforms that try to close the gap by alerting on everything create a different problem — dispatchers tune out notifications that fire too frequently or for events that don't require action. When everything is urgent, nothing is.

Context collapse. A GPS deviation alert without context — is this driver taking a known alternate route? Is this a planned stop? — is nearly useless. Most platforms fire the alert without the context, leaving the dispatcher to investigate before they can act. By then, the window may have closed.

Siloed data sources. The decision to reroute a driver requires ELD data, GPS data, customer delivery windows, and carrier contact information — all from different systems. When those systems don't connect, the dispatcher assembles the picture manually. Every time.
